A set including one box each of the three fragrances: "In," "Yo," and "Sei." This is a full-sized set with a total of 90 sticks. Take your time to enjoy the lingering scent and the gentle spread of the smoke from each fragrance. ■陰 Yin 緑茶 / green tea extract マテ / mate absolute 赤海苔 / red sea weed Made from natural materials. A home shaped by natural materials does not shut out the world—it listens, it yields, it lives in quiet dialogue with nature. Rather than resist, it seeks to harmonize—to ask, gently, how we might live with, rather than apart from. When we place ourselves inside a Japanese house, we feel it—the presence of people, the breath of nature, the passage of time—all soaking quietly into our bodies. Here, the boundary between inside and outside grows thin. The harshness of the wind, the hush of falling leaves, the calm of sunlight—they arrive without warning, and are simply allowed to be. The scent called Yin—陰—was crafted with such a scene in mind. A quiet room. A cup of tea. A moment of stillness, unrushed. It evokes a silence that enters the heart and rests there, gently, like warm hands folded around a bowl. ■陽 Hinoki 檜 / hinoki 杉 / ceder ピンクペッパー / pink pepper Made from natural materials. Since ancient times, people have sought purity—not just of body, but of space, of spirit. At the Grand Shrine of Ise, the ritual rebuilding of the sacred halls—every twenty years—is carried out with timber blessed by the gods. The pale grain of the wood, the crisp scent it carries, radiate a quiet divinity—a sense of renewal, of life made luminous. And yet, in contrast, there is also beauty in age—the worn hues of an old temple, the weight of stillness, the depth of a fragrance shaped by passing time. Both newness and age offer a kind of fullness. Both lead us inward. Such sacred presences, whether radiant or worn, stand with quiet dignity—sometimes guiding, sometimes embracing. The scent called Yang—陽—was created with these moments in mind. A time to bring purity into the everyday. A time to tend, to care, to reawaken a soft and steady brightness. It carries a gentle tension—a subtle lift of the spirit. Not urgency, but alertness. Not noise, but light. ■整 Harmony 白檀 / santal essence 干し草 / hay essenceedar ベチバー / vetyver bourbon essence Made from natural materials. Moss appears quietly—in forests, along ravines, in carefully tended gardens, even in the narrow alleys near home. It lives between things. It joins. It softens. Moss is the thread that binds stones to soil, plants to ground, light to shadow. Where moss gathers, harmony takes root. There is something deeply calming in its form—so delicate, yet quietly resilient. Its softness, its quiet order, its subtle sheen—all speak of balance, of presence without demand. Its freshness soothes the eyes. Its gentleness draws people near. The scent called Harmony—整—was born from the stillness we feel when we gaze upon a moss-covered garden. But not just the stillness—also the unfolding depth that begins where words fall away. A quiet that stretches outward, then inward. A quiet that listens. The Ritual A quiet moment to mark the shift—from noise to stillness, from beginning to end. Let the scent gently unfold into the space. Watch the smoke drift slowly, each curl a soft invitation inward. A practice not of doing, but of being. Burn time: approx. 20 minutes per stick, or 10 minutes for half. A French perfumer with over two decades of experience in the fragrance industry. He expresses the beauty of nature through scent. Rooted in botany and traditional techniques, he has created fragrances for brands across Europe and around the world. His sensorial journeys and meaningful encounters are transformed into one-of-a-kind olfactory creations. A long-established incense house in Kyoto, founded in the Edo period. But not just the stillness—also the unfolding depth that begins where words fall away. A quiet that stretches outward, then inward. A quiet that listens. "Creating scents that awaken scenes within" The world is full of fragrance. Nature offers them freely—in fleeting moments, across the changing seasons. Each scent, a reflection of its time—shaped by temperature, by wind, by rain. Even if I return to the same place, on the same day a year later, the scent I once knew will not be there. It is nature’s way—an offering that arrives only once. Fragrance has the power to stir memory, to awaken imagination. In the East, it has long been held as a sacred presence—a symbol of purity, a call to stillness of the heart. Three scents—In, Yo, and To. Each composed around a single essence: tea tree, cypress, moss. Each drawn entirely from nature. When flame is brought to them, something opens—a passage. A mood. A memory. As the scent rises, I find myself guided—not by thought, but by the quiet unfolding of a scene within. "Smoke, as a mirror of the heart" In this modern age, where convenience and safety are prized above all, my encounters with smoke have grown rare. And yet, beyond the cities, in places closer to nature, I can still see it. When I stop thinking, and simply watch it rise, I feel myself begin to settle. In the East, there is a belief: that one can feel the heart through the form of smoke. The unseen inner world—reflected in what drifts and dances before the eyes. No two shapes are ever the same. They shift, they vanish. And in their disappearance, what remains—is space. A stillness, a lingering trace that carries both scent and silence. All beauty holds a touch of impermanence. Even the word incense speaks of this: a fine line of smoke drawing itself into the air, carrying fragrance as if from some other world. Perhaps, for one small moment each day, I might simply sit, and watch the incense burn. Not only to enjoy the scent—but to discover, perhaps beyond my expectations, a quiet kind of awareness. A quiet kind of abundance. The Ritual A quiet moment to mark the shift—from noise to stillness, from beginning to end. • 小皿/small plate

    ¥4,950

A vessel, shaped simply to hold a single candle. I place the flame on the small dish and do nothing—just gaze. Time begins to move gently, as if eternity could live within a string of fleeting moments. Without trying, I notice—my heart has grown still. When hung from a jizai-kagi—an adjustable hook once used above hearths—the vessel alters the space around it. Paradoxically, its presence creates absence. It invites openness. The curves of its form become quiet boundaries, holding a subtle tension, yet never dividing. Instead, they harmonize. They bring quiet. When incense is lit, the scene begins to shift—from the flickering of flame to the rising trail of smoke, softly curling upward. This vessel, small enough to rest within the palm, seems to embrace whatever is placed within it. It connects object and space, enfolds the observer, and offers quiet comfort. When placing candles, incense, or other items involving open flames on the dish, please ensure that children and pets cannot reach them, and carefully check that there are no flammable materials nearby. Prolonged use of a candle may cause the dish to become hot, so please handle it with care. After use, avoid contact with water or other liquids while it is still hot, as this may cause damage.

In the 19th century, among the quiet rhythms of everyday life, the chako-ro—the tea incense burner—was born. People lived with care, devoting time and attention to the simplest of things. To us today, it may appear inefficient, full of unnecessary steps. But is that truly the case? They knew the value of nature. They knew the richness of the heart. They called it wisdom. maboroshi’s tea incense burner is a gesture of respect—and a quiet study—of that wisdom made form. First, light the candle. Then, place the tea leaves on the dish. In the darkness, watch the small flame begin to sway. Let the scent slowly rise, softly roasted by time. There is stillness in its form. There is comfort in its fragrance. It offers calm—for both body and mind. At times, you may choose to pour hot water over the roasted leaves, and sip. Taste joins scent and sight—the senses deepen, layer by layer. Each simple step, each gesture of care, nourishes a quiet kind of abundance. There is no single answer to when, or how. Let it find its place within your own rhythm—in a moment that feels right, in a manner that feels kind. Once the flame is lit, you may begin to feel nature through all your senses. And slowly, you may find yourself in balance again. <Safety Precautions> Keep away from children and pets.
